Can the Asus Xonar Essence One also power ordinary 5.1 speakers like the Edifier S550?

If I connect the Edifier 5.1 system to my computer directly, while still having the Essence One connected also, would I have to go to sound settings to change the source everytime I want to change from headphones to speakers or vice versa..?
