I am going to be working this summer and I am planning to spend about $1000 of what I make and save the rest for college.  My current system is in my signature, but for you lazy folks, I have a 27" 60hz acer monitor, a ryzen 1600, an rx 460 4gb, 8gb of 3000mhz ram and a 480gb ssd.  My peripherals (mic/headphones/mouse/keyboard) are set for life, so I am planning to upgrade my monitor, ram and gpu.  Please give suggestions or just tell me to wait for prices to stabilize and determine what I should get then.

GPU

If you guys had any suggestions, I was planning to either get a 1070ti, a 1080 or their 2xxx series variants if those are viable options.  I want to spend about $600 on the gpu

Monitor

The monitor I am set on is a 24" 180hz acer predator, currently $300, I would really like a high refresh rate and g-sync, those are needs imo

Some Ram

I'm just planning to double what I have with this

Get something like this ..

I hv chosen a gtx 1080...coz it is the only one closest to it's MSRP...

Sounds good, get a used 1080 ti or new 2080 and the other two will chive wnicely with it.

Based on trends today, do you think a new 1080 ti will be under $800 be June? If so, the a used 1080ti might be under $700, but I'd rather get a new card.

🙂

1080 is technically not as overpriced as proven by the LTT video so i would say go with that but since your not going to 1440p i would say you should upgrade to a 1080p gsync ips 144hz along with the 1070ti/1080 (Depending on the price)

On the topic of RAM, wait for prices to come down if possible. Currently, 8GB is doing fine for most people, but if you run a lot of high intensity games, you will need more RAM. Check your task manager while in games to see how close you are coming to 8GB of RAM being used.

I had a cheap 1080p 144hz and upgraded to the 1440p G sync 165hz ips 27inch Acer and i have to say its amazing. But are you doing gaming?

Yeah for sure, that's why I want a high refresh rate over anything, but I don't mind maxing out my budget if I can afford 1440p, but can I game at 1440p with a 1070ti and a second monitor?

I use 8gb very quickly already, running a game, streaming or recording, having a few tabs open and playing music.  The ram is the most important thing I plan to buy, but I hope that my the beginning of the summer, it won't cost anywhere close to $90, but closer to $60.

That is overly optimistic.  Hope for $80.

I really like how the strix looks, but the evga classified/acx 3.0 series is also really aesthetically pleasing.  I will be overclocking after repasting, and I know both overclock very well, but which should I go with? The better overclocker or the one that is cheaper when it comes down to buying season?

I would go with the strix..

Simply because it is much cheaper...ND has a beefy cooler

Should I move to 1440p 165hz if i end up getting a 1080 with it? I don’t really know how it looks compared to 1080p. I’ve lived my whole life on 720/1080p

Yeah.  Move to 1440p 165hz. A GTX 1080 will hold pretty well with it.
