Both don't have SSDs which in 2018 is a sin for anything above 600$. The second does have a nice display which I would recommend for school work but it doesn't have a graphics card so it won't game at all. The first has a graphics card so if it's just for gaming the first is the clear choice

First one is based on Quanta NL9K which has a good enough cooling. Second one seems not a comparison as there's no dGPU. For gaming definitely the first option.
