i know that no matter what i do i''ll end up with a better keyboard than my current membrane; but could someone maybe tell me what type of switches i should go for to ensure my satisfaction?

my main gripes about my current keyboard (lycosa with membrane... don't hate it was free), is that it doesn't feel responsive at all. and the responsiveness there, is a hard actuation point. there is no smoothness to the key stroke at all.

on the other hand i would like to have a noticeable feel for the actuation, but i can't see myself liking blues, because i want my actuation and returning points to be the same (i'm so anal about this that i learned how to work on cars just to adjust the throw in my clutch). so would browns be for me? or can i say get away with something like reds?

also, i'd preffer tenkeyless, and the design i'm loving right now is http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=298 , but it doesn't have browns.

i like this keyboard because i literally do zero work with the numpad thats included, and the arrow keys are useless to me because i have my razer nostromo for hotkey work and the such. plus it is compact so it will take up significantly less space than my current board.

so should i go for blues, browns, or reds?

Well as you really don't like how hard the actuation force for membranes I don't think you'll like blues very much and especially not blacks. In my opinion having heavy-ish hands reds feel rather mushy as I really only can just instantly bottom them out. From your description Cherry MX Browns would be the key switch you would really want to go for. Also stay away from Vortex they've had some keyboard problems and that's not something you should waste your time on. What is your budget? Do you want a backlight? If you don't want a backlight you can go with a QuickFire Rapid. Also the problem is with key switches you can't tell someone what they would like, going from membrane to mechanical a very good transition would be browns though. Sometimes you think you want one switch but you end up falling in love with another switch.

thanks for the recommendation, i'll try to stick with browns.

the reason why i wanted vortex, is because the size appeals to me. i LITERALLY don't use my keyboard much, only in CS:GO, typing, and league of legends. things like cs6, bf3, bl:r i use my nostromo for. so minimalizing my space was great. i don't have a BIG prefference for backlighting, but if i have a blacklight i'd preffer purple.

is there any other keyboard out there that rivals the size of the vortex pure?

Vortex is the distributor, the keyboards are actually made by KBT, and they are vary good quality. I have owned a race and a pure, and didn't think their build quality ws lacking. for reference, I am typing on a ducky YOTD right now.

I have a 2019 macbook pro with 64gb of ram and my gaming pc has been in the closet since 2018

i was just told kbt doesn't make 100% mechanical keyboards, is this the same as vortex?
