Two wifi networks on one ISP?

Go to solution Solved by Oshino Shinobu,

You need an access point. It connects into the network via Ethernet and provides a wireless signal to connect to. Your wireless router will have an access point built in, but if you need more range or multiple WiFi networks for whatever reason, you can buy dedicated ones.

I'd recommend Ubiquiti's UniFi range, they're very good.

I have a house with an in law that is behind the house. The network used to be set up with two routers and had the two wireless networks, But the issue is I think the routers had conflicting issues and the internet would cut out once in a while. So I purchased a switch the nighthawk S8000 but now on the In law side the wifi from the main router is not powerful enough for the mobile devices, and wireless lightbulbs and Alexa system because there are too many devices wirelessly hooked up to it, each lightbulb takes up a wireless network. Am I s.o.l. or  Is there something I could just connect to one of the lan ports on the switch and make a wireless point for the in law

Can confirm, was having wireless issues until I switched to a Unifi AC-Lite Access Point. Now everything works flawlessly

emphasis on "access point", you don't want another wireless router

edit: there should be one and only one router on a network.  Everything else should be a switch (access points are basically wireless switches).  Beyond that there are virtual networks that all run off the router, but I don't know how that works, trying to learn now.

edit again: there is such a thing as a wireless booster, it plugs into an outlet within range of the main wireless network and creates a second wireless network from that, the two have separate names and login's.  It's basically an access point that doesn't need an ethernet cable run to it, all wireless.
