High end pc getting really low FPS

I'm really new to pc gaming and i recently got a pc. it's a good pc but games like battlefront 2 and overwatch are running on really low fps [average: 60 fps].

specs:

Windows 10

ROG Strix Geforece GTX 1080ti

Intel core i7 8700k 3.70Ghz

G.Skill Ripjaws 16gb DDR4 ram

TUF Gaming Z370-Plus Motherboard

Seagate Baracuda 1Tb HDD

Plextor M.2 SSD 256 gb

ROG Swift PG248Q monitor

This is my last resort. I've been researching about this. I would not be posting this if I were not out of options.
Thank you!

Do you have frame caps? In those games I think you can cap the frames, it might have defaulted to 60 fps.

Try using the PSU Tier List!

How to reset the bios/clear the cmos

My current rig:

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x

Ram: 1x16gb DDR4, 2x8gb DDR4

GPU: gtx 3080

Monitor: 23.8" Dell S2417DG 144hz g-sync 1440p + 27" Acer S271HL 60 Hz 1080p

Keyboard: ducky one I | I SF

Mouse: gpro wireless | glorious model o2 wireless

Take a picture of the inside of your case..

I saw a video the other day that made me think that a lot of reports like this are due to sticking the graphics card in an x4 slot instead of the x16 slot.

Show us your case so we can check stuff like that.

Hardware is pretty solid, bearing in mind a recent vid from BitWit I'd check that everything is plugged into the right places, especially fans and that GPU.

Software side; check for driver updates, and stick to WHQL for that 1080ti. Also do you have any other programs running at the same time as the games?

It would be kind of hard to plug a x16 card into a x4 slot anyways. Ignore him... xD

Also, try disabling V-SYNC/G-SYNC/VBO. It could just be matching the max FPS of your monitor.

Not certain on that exact mobo, but it may have a full size PCIe slot that only has 4 lanes to the cpu, not the ideal 16 or 8

OP, have you ran any benchmarking software on the system yet? also, cooling setup

Well at least make sure you plugged it in the the top most slot like normal people...

There are slots that look like x16 slots that only support up to x4.

Watch the recent bitwit video on this.

Often the bottom slot.

This is due to how CPUs have to spread out their PCIe lanes.

This is not as simple as a subject as you think.

It gets more complicated actually as M.2 drives can disable entire slots on some boards too.

If I plug in an M.2 drive on my board for example, I lose the x8 slot.

I don't think this motherboard is subject to that, but they still should be using the top one.

You GPU is mounted fine, but that single stick of ram may be holding you back a bit.

Oh, nevermind that's a 16gb stick

Sure looks lonely though :P

Okay so next step:

Download DDU and follow this guide to hard remove the graphics card driver.

Then download and install the newest version of the graphics card driver.

https://windowsreport.com/display-driver-uninstaller-windows-10/

Oh, and another quick question:

Do you have any temperature monitoring or GPU overclocking software like afterburner open while this is occurring?

I'm asking because there's a big issue right now with monitoring GPU power.

It causes severe frame drops. You can fix this by going into the settings and turning off monitoring for GPU power.

This is turning into PimpMyPc, but from that pic everything looks pretty good. I agree with the above that the memory does seem a little lonely but from what I can see there doesn't appear to be any major issues.

I'd say try the DDU guide and just double and triple check all display settings

How is your monitor connected to your PC? Just asking in case you plugged it into the integrated graphics port on the Motherboard itself and not into the GPU.

 Will try it!

I tried afterburner. Will turn it off.

I agree! the 16gb looks lonely! should upgrade it xD

It is connected to the GPU through displayport

Just tried the DDU, tried to play Overwatch, from an average fps of 60 it increased to 80 but still not what is expected from the pc.

It is the GPU that is built into the CPU, good for basic stuff. There should be a setting somewhere in the bios

Also some laptops run an iGPU instead of discrete graphics like my current laptop

I use the iGPU for both my lounge Pc and my parents machine. Movies/internet and solitaire/internet respectively.

Both of my main pc's have discrete graphics
