M.2 SSD

 I want to purchase NVMe SSD for my desktop. But my motherboard (Asus B85M-G) doesn't have M.2 port but has PCIe 3.0 X16 slot. Is it worth buying an adapter(PCIe X16 to M.2) ?? Will that affect the performance of SSD?

That seems like a waste of PCIe lanes, you could have 4 M.2's on one 16x slot.

M.2s don't need a full 16x lane. You can find adapters that won't take up the entire slot.

Yeah, that'll work, (it's called PCIe, btw) Though you will loose the ability to put a graphics card in.

PCIe and M.2 use the same BUS, so no, the only thing it's converting is the physical socket.
