Need help finding a budget cpu

Go to solution Solved by SpaceGhostC2C,

If you are using a discrete GPU, the cheapest upgrade path for you is to get an Athlon 8xxk CPU, the cheapest you can find used (860, 880, whatever ending in "k" as they are all unlocked - locked ones should do as well but may be trickier to overclock). You wouldn't want to invest much in that platform at this point, but until you save enough for a major overhaul, getting a quad core for a few bucks is the best you can do.

I am a student looking to build a better pc but using some of my old parts, i have 8gb of ddr3 ram and a fm2+ motherboard,i currently have a amd a6 6400k and a radeon hd7770 1gb i have looked into getting a lga 1155 cpu but some have said a amd athlon x4 860k is not bad for gaming so i need help building a gaming pc for cheap, i am going to upgrade my gpu later, so cpu help is needed
