hi guys, i'm new here,

so the thing is, I'm buying a new pc for experimenting with VR. I'm currently having a problem choosing my graphics card, I was wondering if any of you would give me a solid tip.

the thing is, i'm from Brazil, things here are absurdly overpriced and there are not many options at the affordable price range.

so my doubt is, I can only afford to buy a brand new GTX 1080 EVGA sc , or a gigabyte GTX 1080 (not the g1 gaming) . these are the only ones in store at a price that is worth(and still a ripoff)

but on the other hand, i can buy for the same price or (50 bucks less in my currency ) any other of the GTX 1070ti, such as the AMP! extreme from zotac or the Rog strix.

I can't decide what to do since I've read the 1080s are better, but not these 2 models... i got people telling me to go for the EVGA sc 1080  and others saying to avoid couse of the heating problem...
people saying it's not worth a 1080 for the same price here... all types of stuff...

for now my build is a Z270 Asus rog Hero VIX, a i7 7700k, 32 gb 3000 mhz trident z Gskillz memory, a nzxt kraken x62 watercooling system and a corsair 850w gold power supply, on a nzxt elite S340 tower.

PLEAS HELLLLLLLP!!!!!!

The performance difference between a 1080 and an overclocked 1070ti is marginal but the price difference is definitely not marginal. I personally say the ROG Strix line is one of the best if not the best but the AMP Extreme was one of my options when I was picking my graphics card so it's not bad either. If you want the spend the money on the 1080 then the EVGA SC would have no cooling problems (assuming it was recently stocked)

Assuming i get the evga from a person, brand new, but no warranty from let's say a store, is the risk of no waranty still better than the gigabyte version with warranty?

Well you could ask if it has the cooling "patch" so to say. If it does then you'll be fine temps wise. However, I'm also a strong advocate for warranties as I've used them plenty of times and they've saved my ass pretty often. On the other hand, most people replace cards before they even fail due to age so as long as it works when you buy it and it's not been tampered with, there's a 99% chance you'll be fine. If you want to be extra safe, buy the gigabyte one, by no means is it bad
