I'll try to keep this short, I built my first PC in March 2017, Using an AMD FX4350. I didn't know much about computers at the time or I would've looked for something better. My CPU has never ran hot, and I'm currently using a hyper 212 Evo. When I first built the PC it'd overclock fine. I've gotten it up to 4.8GHZ in the past, but, it started to get where it would crash at higher overclocks. I upgraded my PSU to a SeaSonic M12II thinking my 550W wasn't enough. I've only been able to get 4.5GHZ max lately. Today while gaming my FPS was noticeably lower. I went into my BIOS and reset everything to stock voltages and speeds and my PC actually started faster and my FPS is better. Is this an indication of a bad CPU.motherboard?

If it helps any, here is my specs: AMD FX4350, GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P, PNY GTX 1050, 16GB DDR3 (8x2) SeaSonic M12II, Hyper 212 Evo, Seagate 1Tb Firecuda.

Have you ever done maintenance on your computer? Namely have you ever cleaned out that CPU cooler?

What are your temps now? Are they stable or are they spiking? If it is temp related you could try taking the cooler off, clean it really well, then reinstall it with some good quality thermal compound to see if it helps.

There's no place like ~

either you're overvolting or your vrms are running too hot (over 80) and delivering dirty or fluctuating power to the cpu

if you're ocing FSB over 210 check if the temps aren't skyrocketing, CPU temp isn't everything

trust me I had not one but two 990 boards, vrm and nb temps with the stock cooling were over 80 all the times until I bought some better cooling

I take my PC outside monthly and blow all the dust out of the fans and heatsink with an air compressor, so there isn't a buildup. My current temp is 37C with Chrome open and PC building Simulator running in the background.

I think it could be what @aezakmi said. Can you monitor the vrm temps under load? The D3P is not known to be a great overclocker.

Sorry for the late response. I don't think I can monitor VRM temps, I looked with HWMonitor and there's nothing about the VRMs. However I did do a stress test with Aida 64, if that could be of any help. Unfortunately I didn't think of the voltage tab until closing Aida 64.
