What Do I Do After POST

Go to solution Solved by LogicalDrm,

I'm sorry but I really dont understand what ACHI or raid means, can you explain?

You shouldn't worry about this in new builds. New motherboards are set to ACHI by default. Just set boot order so that first is device with installation files (DVD or USB) and second is drive that you'll be installing OS to like SSD. You can remove other devices from that list as you won't be booting to them.

How do I know what frequency my ram is

Link to RAM you'll be buying? Most likely its 1600MHz and it'll run that as default. Setting XMP/frequency is not necessessary or even priority before OS installation. So boot order is only thing to worry.

So Once I'm am done building my computer, what should I do after post, I do understand that I have to install the Operating System, but do I change anything in the bios or anything like that. I'm good on the hardware part but not really sure what to do with the software.

Set in your BIOS where it should look to boot into your OS. So if you have a DVD Drive and a Disc of windows set the DVD Drive as the #1 boot priority and the same if you're installing an OS from a USB Stick

Setup: i5 4670k @ 4.2 Ghz, Corsair H100i Cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB Ram @ 1600 Mhz, MSI Z87-GD65 Motherboard, Corsair GS700 2013 edition PSU, MSI GTX 770 Lightning, Samsung EVO 120 SSD + 2TB&1TB Seagate Barracudas, BenQ XL2411T Monitor, Sennheiser HD 598 Headphones + AntLion ModMic 4.0

Not really, just make sure you setup the boot loader if you're installing windows via cd or usb or whatever, and I like to only have the HDD I'm installing Windows to plugged in so I don't accidentally install to the wrong drive

Me: Yeah I just really can't get my H220 working again, I've tried everything that was suggested in the forum.

Brian (Swiftech Support): Hmm, have you tried slapping it?

If you installed all your fans to your motherboard a good thing to do would be to change your fan settings so that they wont all be running at max RPM. Also setup the boot order you want to have. (Like SSD with OS first then HDD or USB first and then SSD)
