Gentz,

   First time poster... I recently finished my build. Shortlist:

  • i7 7700k (not overclocked)
  • ASUS Strix Z270e Gaming
  • 16 GB DDR4 dominator
  • EVGA FTW3 1080ti
  • Corsair RM850x PSU

Intermittently having an issue with my monitor, sometimes when I turn the PC on and then the display it says no signal then I need to unplug and re plug the display port from the GPU.

Pressing keys, moving the mouse or turning the display off then on again doesn't seem to work.

-Moved to Troubleshooting-

Have you tried using different cables and/or ports?

@Crunchy Dragon Thank you!

Tried using a different DisplayPort cable or used a different connector entirely, such as HDMI?

@Crunchy Dragon Yes I did use a HDMI when the build was new, for about 3 days until my display connector came in. Switched to display port then it started happening. When I was on the HDMI there was no issue that I can recall.

Hmm. I would say keep using HDMI if there aren't any issues.

@Crunchy DragonI mean its only a problem sometimes when I do a fresh boot, restart or awake from sleep. I have easy access to the back of the PC so unplugging and re plugging it in isn't a huge hassle. My biggest concern is just wear on the port over time. As for switching back to HDMI, does HDMI support 144Hz refresh rates? If not ill probably just stick to the display port, and eventually get a new cable to rule out a possible cable issue.

HDMI only supports up to 120Hz, but I imagine the next revision of HDMI will support 144Hz. No clue when that'll be...

I wouldn't worry too much about wearing out the port, it takes a LOT of insertion/ejection to actually cause problems.
