I just got a new monitor - Dell U2718Q which does 4K and supposedly HDR. I attempted to go into the NVIDIA control panel and change the settings to RGB/12bit/Full Range, however when I click apply the monitor goes black, then comes back and the options are back at the default values which are YCbCr422/10bit/Limited range. I am doing this over a known capable HDMI 2.2 cable. Also I have an Alienware 15 w/1070 that I am using as the system. Any ideas?

FYI: Cross posted in gpu section as well.

UPDATE . . . I uninstalled the display drivers completely, and reinstalled them (391.35), still not able to get it to switch to RGB/12bit/Full Range. I have setup a post on Dell's forum and have yet to hear anything as well. Anyone run across this before?

You're not going to be able to set 12 bpc RGB color at that resolution over HDMI. At 3840×2160 at 60 Hz RGB, the maximum color depth is 8 bpc. Anything else exceeds the bandwidth of HDMI 2.0. You need to use DisplayPort if you want to use 10 bpc color at the same time.
