When would I want to allow insecure connections? (What does this allow that secure doesn't) and why should I use secure connections? (What can someone do if it isn't)

Secure connections force the traffic to be encrypted. Some clients don't always support encrypted connections though so I allow unsecured on my local network but require secure connections outside the network.

Secured connections prevent someone from snooping on your traffic pretty much :)
