  1. After the WAN show today with the discussion of the notch on the new Apple devices, to me it just seems like a precursor to notches on iPads and having developers design around it for all devices. It already exists on the phones, now on the laptops. If Apple wants to make an all in one OS across devices, standardizing features seems logical. Thoughts?
  2. Do you know if they come separate from the SD card? Don't need another one
  3. Does anyone know of a USB C + A SD card reader (micro or not) that has a spring mechanism so that the SD card does not stick out? Some like this https://www.amazon.ca/Satechi-Aluminum-Type-C-Micro-Reader/dp/B01EU2KRI8 but with the spring. Would also prefer a named brand and needs to support the speed of a Lexar 1066x
  4. I just recently moved to Canada from Australia and brought my Nest Mini with me. It worked perfectly fine at home however now that I am here it frequently is unable to detect me or detects completely random things (coughing up phlegm was one). It also doesn't always work first time, for example I say "Hey Google, turn off my heater" (a smart plug) or "Hey Google, turn off the lights" and it will just do nothing and won't action unless I ask again. My housemates with their one in the living room can hear me ten meters away but the one less than a meter from my face cannot. Does anyone know why?
  5. It was a fresh install of 2004 both times that I updated to 20H2. I only got the device brand new two months ago so it shouldn't be a legacy driver issue that has carried over. The PC is used 8 hours a day at work in that time and only happened a few times so bit hard to repeat things for checking each driver. Any idea of what more specifically it could be to try avoid testing the wrong things?
  6. I have an Intel NUC8v7PNH with 32gb RAM and a 512gb SSD which keeps freezing. Audio stops and my keyboard and mouse (through Synergy) stop working. The screen pixelates (attached photos). I have tried stress testing the machine both with Prime 95, Crystal Disk Mark and FurMark without being able to reproduce the issue. It has occurred 4-5 times. Intel has already replaced the NUC (kit not RAM and SSD) and I have updated the chipset, BIOS and reinstalled windows twice with no luck. Any suggestions on what is causing this and how to fix it?
  7. I am currently looking at a system upgrade (MOBO, CPU, RAM, Cooler). I have decided three of these Asus X570 ROG Crosshair VIII Hero Wi-Fi AMD 5900x Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 I was looking at RAM and was considering either 4000Mhz/C16 or 3600Mhz/C14, both roughly $550 (AUD). However according to the AMD website the 5900 only supports 3200Mhz. Why are websites recommending 4000Mhz if it only supports 3200Mhz? What is required to get them to work since it seems to be possible? Would I be better getting a kit that is half the cost and upg
  8. Are there even well optimised games?
  9. No OC, just running the base clock of 3.3GHz I assumed there would be some bottlenecking given the age but not sure how much (ie if I upgrade to current components am I likely to get 1-2fps or 20+)
  10. I just ran a Benchmark on Hitman 2 on a 5760x1080 60hz setup. I get on average 55fps for the whole benchmark but task manager reports 80% CPU usage vs 20% GPU usage. Is this a bottleneck of the CPU on my GPU? Also, task manager said I am using half of my 1080ti video memory so how does that only equal 20% of my GPU?
  11. Is there documentation anywhere that describes how a program like HWMonitor actually gets all of the temperature information? I want to make my own program as a hobby project to learn but the only thing I have found is using WMIC and it keeps saying not supported on my system.
  12. I had the idea of making my own fan controller so that I could link it to my Google Home and control it all from there. Unfortunately whilst I understand the programming side of this project my electronics side is very limited. Do you have any recommendations where I can go to learn stuff like determining these pin outs and how to read the temps and send the data to the computer or arduino?
  13. After doing a tab by tab check of just closing until it got better it turns out that an SVG animation was what was causing the issue. https://codepen.io/nod2007/pen/KzEKXZ This appears to only be an issue when the browser is under load. So it works if just the two tabs are open but the 100 tabs + youtube + css animation did not work
