So, I thought recently that my Windows install story was funny (and annoying) so I shared it, and make a thread to hear some others peoples stories. So here's mine

So I had two slowish 500GB Seagate Pipeline HDD's in a JBOD config on a rack server for storing random junk, and recently retired the server from that role. I decided to set it back up as a sole HomeGroup hub for printers and local storage. So I decided to use a 1TB drive for non critial data, and set up RAID 0 on the two slow drives, because why not, i had never bothered with RAID 0 up until now. The server does actually boot faster now, not by much though. However I had to install windows twice. The first time I did it, I set up the RAID array on the HP Smart Array B110i SATA controller, kinda a low end one from HP (and not so fucking smart) but hey, 4 drives is not bad. All said and done (I had to reset the BIOS for it to actually detect the drives, issue #1) I then went about installing Windows. And hey, Windows 10 didn't recognise the RAID controller (issue #2) so I went and grabbed the drivers for it, meant for Server 2012 but works on Windows 10, and installed them, which let windows see the logical drive, or actually let it see the drives, which  I thought was odd, but I'd never installed it on this server with RAID 0 before, so assumed it would stripe it as it installed...... Nope (issue #3) it somehow managed, even though it was seeing a logical array, to see the drives are their individual drives. In disk manager it saw it was a single drive with two 460GiB partitions. So I then go, delete the array and recreate it, and install windows, and there it was, 1 single 931GiB drive. So 3 fucking hours later I'm done what should have taken 25 minutes. Just windows things

Yours faithfully
