More questions :D :P

I was looking at the different XFX cards and saw four versions:

1. Core Ed: Runs at stock speeds and has small heatsink

2. Double Disappation: Has two fans, runs at stock speeds

3. GHz Ed: Runs at 1+GHz, has same heatsink as DD

4. Black Ed: Runs at 1+ GHz like the GHz Ed., has the same heatsink as DD and GHz Ed.

So my question is, why get the black edition since it is more expensive with the same thing as the GHz edition. I heard it has a custom PCB, but have not heard any advantages of that, only that you can't use the majority of fullcover waterblocks.

Thanks,

Keith

For the case badge of course:) On the 7870 GHz. series for example, the BE is 50 Mhz. faster than the DD GHz. version. IMO not worth the extra twenty dollars for this minor boost. If you are looking at the 7700 or 7800 series, I will say that XFX is a good brand. Going in to the 7900 series, their QC begins to suffer. I am a XFX user as I believe that their aesthetics and cooling solution in the 7700/7800 series was/is great. Look towards MSI or Sapphire for a decent card in the 7900 series if this is your goal.

BTW, I still use the XFX BE 7700 in crossfire and have had no issues except limited frame rates given the 1GB.....whatever you choose...happy gaming and good luck with the silicon lottery...

To summarize: 50 MHz and a case badge for 20.00 dollars US. vs -50 MHz and no case badge :(

I went to their website and you could sign up if you have a BE. Anybody know what that gives you access to?

You can sign up if you use any of their products, it is just to register them for the extended warranty.

I have Crossfire 7870 BE purely because when I bought it they were the same price as the DD edition. I love the look of XFX cards but if the specs are the same between Black Edition and Double Dissipation Editions then go for the cheaper one :)
