GTX960 fan question

Just bought a Gigabyte gtx960 OC used, and I noticed that the fans start very suddenly and loudly. As I understand, they only turn on when the temperature reaches a certain point, and this usually happens after a few minutes in a game.

 

The problem is, when they start up, they make a sudden "whoosh" sound. It's like they spin up higher, and then go back to normal. It all happens within second or so.

 

So I wanna ask - is this normal, or should I be worried?

That's normal.

its normal, older videocards usually don't have fancy fan profiles that make them more quiet on startup like new videocards do.

Yeah its perfectly fine, its the fans spinning up before the software that controls the fans based on the temperature can load. Nothing to worry about
