Underclocking my RAM (?)

So I'm currently projecting a budget build, and one of the parts was 8GB of DDR4 2400MHZ RAMs since the motherboard I've chosen doesn't support more than 2400, but today I found that the same model of RAM, at 3000MHZ are on sale right now and it would increase my budget possibilities.
If I bought this G.SKILL 8GB DDR4 3000MHZ AEGIS CL16, would I be able to just underclock it into 2400MHZ in the bios?

It should work. The motherboard should do everything automatically, I think.

If you just plug in and play it will work at either 2133mhz or 2400mhz which is the default frequency, the 3000mhz frequency would be through over-clocking.
