Water recently spilled into my tower (i know, i died too) and after powering it off and drying parts and cleaning parts off with isopropyl alcohol, the audio seems to be the only thing damaged (thank god because the 1080ti was in there!). To fix this i'm looking into getting an external dac and amp. I have been drawn to the modi 2 and magni 3. Im dead set on geting the magni, but because i also need a dac (none of the 3.5mm jack audio headers work on my motherboard) im also getting a modi, however, i dont know which version to get because im new to the dac/amp scene and dont fully understand what each version's differences are. So, if someone could help me understand what the differences between the 3 modis are, id greatly appreciate. Also as a side-note, the uber version is on backorder and i need these sooner than they'll be in stock, would it be worth it to upgrade to the multibit version?

Thanks!!

edit: also i should add that i plan on adding speakers to the mix as well... if that helps

Uber includes an optical input option and multibit uses a multibit DAC that many have said does not sound as good as the 2/uber. So if you have extra cash and wanna give something unique a try - multibit. If you would like to connect via optical - uber. If neither - 2.

The multibit sounds nothing like any other multibit DAC, it is pretty awful for its price. The Uber version has optical in, but also a different power setup, so it is a bit cleaner sounding and I would definitely say it is worth the extra money over the standard modi 2.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Good to know that the power is actually different between the two - I was mulling over the same question as the OP. Multibit seems like it was a good effort to make a cheap version, but they missed the mark. Looks like Uber it is.
