Computer Extremely Slow after 3 months down time

Go to solution Solved by RadiatingLight,

Could just be updates downloading or something.

let it sit for 30 minutes, restart, and see how it goes.

Computer was unplugged from power for 3 months, (I was grounded) And now it's hella slow, I can barely type this stuff in. It's like it freezes for a good 5 seconds, but then everything that I was typing during that freeze time shows up. I am attempting to defragment the disk, but I need to know if it might be other things. Dust is currently not an issue, computer is not overheating. I can't even alt-tab between windows at times, let alone load webpages. (Took me a whole 3 mins to type this out, thats how slow it is)

Disable System Restore and disable Superfetch service.

Superfetch service?

1. Press Win key+R

2. Type "services.msc"

3. Hit OK if you have User Account Control enabled.

4. Once the services applet window opens, scroll down and find "sysmain" or "Superfetch" (same thing)

5. Double click on the entry. Find "Startup type" and set it to "disabled". Reboot.

This interferes with ReadyBoost but nobody uses that so it's fine.

Ok, I let defraggler run over night, it is stuck at 0% defragmenting. Looks like I'll have to wipe the drive and start over again...

Aye, the disks's probably fucked. Might've been bumped between those 3 months

Hol up, computer is running at lighting speed now, even though I didn't do anything. Looks like it needed a restart xD

Do us a favor and send us some screenshots from Event Viewer from 3 months ago and from when you first booted it up.
