I went and bought a i7 7700k. Installed it into my Asus Hero VIII mobo. And I got an error code 62 (Installation of PCH runtime services) I googled this and it said I had to update my mobo. So I took out the i7 7700k and put back my i6 6600k and then all of a sudden Im getting an error code 55 (Memory not installed) I tried everything. I reseated the CPU, reseated the RAM, tried one ram stick. Clear CMOS. Pressed the Memok! button. My i6 was working just fine before I took it out. Now I just want it working again. Please assist me please....

Hey so my computer currently isn't working, I'm having troubles starting it up, a user suggested I try to update the BIOS. I went onto the Asus website and downloaded the driver. Question is though... How do I update a mobo on a computer that wont even post? The power starts up and everything but theres no post at all, cant even get into the BIOS. How would I update the bios?

You need a compatible CPU that works with the BIOS, in your case that would be a 6000 series chip, or a 3000 series celeron (I think the 4000 series needs a BIOS update as well).

Another option is to find a local PC shop and ask them to do it for you for a few bucks.

Edit:

I saw your previous posts and saw you have a 6000 series chip already, or had, use that and update the BIOS.

Well depending on the board a memory issue fault could be an issue with the CPU setup, in this case since the chip was a known good component prior I'd check the pins on the motherboard as a bent pin there could cause that.

Luckily for you, that board has USB BIOS Flashback, which allows you to update the BIOS even if it doesn't get past POST.

Check your board's manual for how to use USB BIOS Flashback.

EDIT: Looks like it's section 2.2 in your manual, or chapter 2, page 12. http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1151/MAXIMUS_VIII_HERO/E10343_MAXIMUS_VIII_HERO_UM_WEB.pdf?_ga=2.233079064.740725817.1522275426-1586744152.1507333729

You don't even need that with BIOS Flashback. I believe it actually works even without a CPU at all, so long as the system has power.

Yah, you shouldn't need a CPU with BIOS Flashback. The only thing that worries me is maybe he got the board in a bad state.

Might be a good idea to take out the CMOS battery as well and then put it back to clear the BIOS settings.

clear CMOS doesnt always work, take the battery out of your board for 30min to 1hour and try again.

Had the same issue, clear cmos button havnt worked but taking out the battery for 1hour fixxed it.
