Looking for a solution to remotely access with my setup.  Currently I've got the ISP modem/router with a cable to my Asus router (with merlin) WAN port which is set as a DMZ from the ISP router.  I use the Asus router to handle everything in my home.  Unfortunately I can not setup a local Open VPN or ddns on my Asus router since it has a local IP from the ISP router.  I've asked my ISP if my Asus router could either have its own IP or have thier modem/router just be a modem, but it's not possible due to my cable tv setup and I only get one IP since it's a residential plan.  It's a one PVR system with another client box which thier router handles.  I've tried setting up an open VPN server on my Nas and one of the PC's, but I still can't remotely access.  Not even the no-ip software will work properly.  For whatever reason I can access my NAS with my no-ip DNS name, but nothing on my PC's.  Any ideas?

Have you tried putting your Asus router in bridge mode to let the ISP router handle NAT?

Never thought of that.  I'm assuming the ISP router would handle DHCP etc and my Asus would just be an access point?  I got the Asus router when I was with a previous ISP and they just put thier modem/router in bridge mode and my router handled everything.

The only options I see for my Asus is wireless router, repeater, access point and media bridge.

By default your Asus router will perform NAT so you have a double NAT situation which is problematic for port forwarding. You should be able to make your router function like an access point but I'm not sure of the settings on your exact model. Google is your friend here. :P
