upgrading gpu

a friend gave me his old gtx 760 after upgrading to replace my gtx 470.i was wondering what the best process to use when changing the gpu?do i need to unistall the drivers first or just switch them

just switch them, you computer will still work it just won't figure out what's in it until you get the drivers which you can find online.

Even if it's NVIDIA to NVIDIA the best path is to:

- Download DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)

- Reboot into safe mode

- Run DDU to uninstall the drivers

- Turn off computer

- Replace graphics card

- Boot into Windows normally

- Download drivers from NVIDIA website

Personally, I just physically swapped my 980ti to 1080ti then downloaded the drivers using Nvidia Experience. Haven't had any problems since.

Swap then download the driver and perform clean install or just express. Result will be the same.

DDU old drivers

(install new gpu in between)

reinstall new drivers
