I have a Lenovo H520s pre-built with an i5 3330 and 6gb of ram. I was wondering if I should get a 1050 Ti 4gb for 150 on craigslist or an MSI 1060 6gb for 240? Also, what should I check for if I were buying a used graphics card? Also, what power supply and case would you recommend under 50 dollars each?

That’s a good deal for a 1060 6gb. Any bronze 80+ should be good, PSU wise. Instead of upgrading you case, I would upgrade to an i5 or even an i7, depending on your uses.

If the 1060 is available, them that one. It performs a lot better, and you can reuse it in the future. Make sure that the graphics card actually works under a load, that it performs roughly as it should and that it is in fact the graphics card you bought.

The CX450/M is available for well under $50, and there are often rebates available. Looking at the current prices, the Focus Plus Gold 550W is available for $55 after rebate. For a bit over $50, you can get the Formula or Focus Gold. Make sure the prebuilt actually takes standard PSUs with standard connectors.

If you use rebates, you can get the 270R, P300 or View 21 for $50. Without rebates, you have the Spec 04, Focus and MB600L.

:)

There are decent bronze rated PSUs for under $50, it's just that you can't recommend based on just the 80+ rating.

Good gold rated PSUs start at like $55
