Realtek not detecting headset

I have a new build which consists of an MSI - B350 Gaming Plus motherboard and a 780t Corsair case. I believe that is all the hardware pertinent to my issue.

I have installed the realtek HD audio drivers, however when I plug in my headset I only get audio output and the mic is not detected. I have no idea how to use the headphone jack on the front panel as a multi jack (Like as a headset instead of just headphones). Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

All drivers have just been reinstalled. It still has the same problem

Usb headset, correct? If so, try the back ports.

No, it uses 3.5 mm jack.

Try checking in realtel theres an advanced settimgs tab which says tie up or separate somethig like that, try changing the setting to which ever option you arent currently using, it might help
