Hello fellow pc enthusiasts, I just placed an order for gskill 16gigs aegis @ 3Ghz for a ryzen 5 1600 build, which will be used for streaming/gaming and programming.

From what I have seen that was my cheapest and fastest choice.

One thing that I noticed is that they have no heatsink just a sticker to make it look fancy.

My question is this, does it matter that it does not have a heatsink?

I will probably overclock my CPU (stock voltage) but certainly not the ram sticks.

Will I see any difference is it worth to get an after-market or it's just cool?

Note I have unrestricted airflow by 3 120MM fans at the front of my case and 1 at the back.

From what I have seen it does not really matter due to low voltage they are working on but still a bit of input on your experience would be nice.

Thank you in advance -Jason.

DRAM doesn't use enough power to make heat sinks a necessity. I would wager even on higher end ones it doesn't use enough power.

So don't worry if the module has a heat sink or not.

Thank you for the fast reply, Alright thank you again!

ye RAM doesn't need heatsinks. Any heatsinks out there is just for marketing purposes. I doubt it'd make a difference in performance.

I had a ram fan (it came with the ram) and i noticed its far louder than cpu+gpu (Noctua nhd15 + gigabyte g1) so never ever ever plug a ram fan (unless you love formula 1 sounds)

They are mostly there for show . Ram doesn't use nearly as much power it would have to to require heatsinks. Plus ,area on DIMM slots is huge anyway

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

Mine gets hot enough to burn to the touch so I cool my ram. Just easy for me to throw it in a loop. Normally have a fan directly over it as a case fan only hits one stick.
