Random Slow down

Go to solution Solved by Ky_GG,

Ok so i noticed that my CPU was running on 0.23 GHz for some reason, after a reboot where i attempted to run the BIOS i got an error stating "High CPU Temprature".

I opened up my case and saw my CPU fan not properly connected from one side making it hover over the CPU rather than connect with the top.

I managaed to fix this and the next restart was faster than evern and everything went back to normal.

Thanx to everybody who replied and tried to help out tho!

So my computer had been working fine for a very long time, before this random slow-down in my computer showed up.

Everything is 10x slower, Even mouse movement is slow, It doesn't even recognise clicks until 10 seconds after i've clicked somethig.

Most things open way after they've been clicked, Task manager doesn't even respond most of the time and shuts off. Text being typed shows up way after its been typed

I don't know why this is happening!

Things i've tried

  • A Scan and Fix by Avast anti-virus
  • A complete re-install of windows
  • Checking CPU temps and usage.

Note - After a succesful launch of task manager i could see none of my components being used more than 10% on idle.

System Specs :

  • PENTIUM G3258 BASE CLOCK
  • NVIDIA GTX 960 TWIN FROZR
  • 1TB WD BLUE
  • 8GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE RAM
  • H81M-C MOTHERBOARD
  • CD DRIVE
  • 430 W PSU E.V.G.A

Have you installed any apps, run anything abnormal or updated windows recently? What about drive speeds - I had a slowdown last year because of a slowed drive. Could also be because of Specter and Meltdown patches.

Bow down to me humans.

I can't help if you don't quote me. How am I supposed to know if you need my premium support? Now starting at £399.99 a year.

Also, be a sport and mark the correct answer as the correct answer. It will help pour souls in the future when they are stuck and need guidance.

"If it works, proceed to take it apart and 'make it work better.' Then cry for help when it breaks." - Me, about five minutes ago when my train of thought wandered.

Remember kids, A janky solution is still a solution.

I just re-installed windows and  deleted my windows Old folders to have nothing but my Windows Install there. Doesn't seem to have done anything.

As for drive speeds, i have yet to test that. Know any freeware i could use to test real quick?

I would try another OS, did you clean install windows 10 on the drive? Try Windows 7/ubuntu and see if that happens.

Another OS? Windows 10 has never done this before. I don't think i can shift OSs completely, it will change alot more than just fixing this issue.

Then try earlier windows major update, fall update, creator's update. Maybe windows 10 auto update did something that your pc does not like.
