Quick question about Win7 system image backup

If I create a system image backup and save it to my HDD, how exactly will it restore my system? Let's say I get a mad virus and I'm forced to reinstall Windows 7 completely. Now if I apply the system image backup will it restore every program, every windows update and everything else just the way they were before the Windows reinstall?

Almost. Image will be like system was when it was made. It will only save stuff you have in Windows' own folders, not everything on HDD. Meaning that you need to backup personal files separately if they aren't in Users folders. Cloning drive would create exact copy.
