Is Ryzen just not available? Because an ASrock Pro4 + R5 1600 would be cheaper in the US anyways, and it gives you a 6c/12t chip.

I also probably wouldn't cheap out on a Z370 board in general, wait for the B360/H360 boards if you need coffee lake.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Like you already bought the i5 8400? would never suggest buying a PC in pieces.

But I have no idea what motherboards are available to you.

Better in what way? Gaming? It's about 100fps for Ryzen and 120fps for Coffee Lake, doubt most people could tell the difference, otherwise the Ryzen chip is the easy choice for the better multi-threaded performance if it's ever needed.

Literally any Z370 mobo will run fine with an 8400.
