Hello! I am looking to build a new PC and need some help with picking correct parts, it will be used for a range of things including video editing and gaming (PUBG, Black Desert Online and etc.). I have already set in stone in my head that I want to have the i7-8700K and 32GB of ram, but from there I am not too sure. I would rather have a case with a panel to look through as well. I have already picked out all the parts that I need (i think), just really need that helping hand.

Please tell me if there is anything you think I should change which would improve the performance/stability of the system. I won't be needing any peripherals and plan to use 1080p monitors, and in future possibly 4k once I have a new graphics card. Oh, and I will need to get windows 10 pro.

Graphics card : Not needed, will be buying it at a later date and using my current GTX1060 6GB until then.

Budget : Max £1100 - Around US$1500

Location : UK

UK Part Picker:Updated Click me

Thanks.

Everything seems to check out, though I would definitely throw in an ssd. maybe something like an 850 evo. 500Gb would be my minimum recommendation.

Yeah I think I will probably put in an SSD, do you think it would be a better idea to get a bigger case or is this one fine?

that will be 32GB of ram, that mobo has 4 slots and youre buying a 4x kit. so if it wasnt a typo and you wanted to reuse a 4GB that wont work.

for storage id recomend going with 2 WD blues with 2TB each, since that allows you to access both drives at the same time with full speed, giving you better reliability, and speed (in case you use both at once). theyre 20 pound more, but a reliable HDD brand.

also if posible id get a 650-750W 80+gold(=>) psu, since the efficiency curve might be worth it for a few extra quid.

do you own an SSD? if not then id recomend you get one, specificaly a evo 960 since your mobo supports it 250-500GB

the case is fine. you have an atx motherboard and the case is atx. I don't see any reason to buy a bigger/ more expensive one.

Sorry just fixed that typo, I will look into a 650-750W power supply and the HDDs.

Aside from an SSD, the mobo isnt good enough. Sure it will get the chip running, but the VRM design is far too bad for any overclocking. I'd use this MSI Z370 A Pro instead. On first glance it doesnt look like it's any better than the Gigabyte one you chose (or rather, the filter picked), but De8auer overclocked an 8700k with it and pushed 5.1GHz with surprisingly low VRM temperature. The temps even managed to stay within safety limits (though I urge you not to try it out) with ZERO airflow.

here is an image of that psu's efficiency curve in case you couldnt find it. after adding a 1080ti to your build the power draw predicition went to 484W(88% load). so whatever you choose make sure its better and cheap enough to warrant the upgrade

Thanks, I have changed it to the MSI board you recommended, doesn't seem to expensive either.

Thanks for that, really making me question if I need to upgrade. I have looked at this and wondering if that is a good upgrade or not.

no need for a Network adaptor, every mobo has it already. skip the thermal paste, most coolers will include it. also, get an ssd and one 2tb hdd.
