About Wired Connection. help!

Hey!!

Stupid ish question.

So I work from home, And as of right now We NEED to be connected wired to our Modem (for some kind of safety reasons)
And right now, I have like a 50Foot Lan Cable ( OR what ever its called) Running from my Modem to my Laptop. Runs from my living room to my office. Is there such thing out there, That plugs into the wall and lets you plug in the lan cable to it, and plug it into the Laptop?

Or am i dreaming...

Thanks!

They do work, however it all depends on your home wiring. It’s better to use a physical cable.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

Power line adapters working depends on the quality of the electrical wiring. The distance between the adapters. Also, if you cross breakers you will encounter interference on slower speeds. Things that have heavy draw such as hair dryers can cause mega interference causing disconnection. Keep in mind that most power companies bring two hot wires in to your panel, each does 1 side of the panel. To be honest these were really designed to work on 1 circuit. While you can make them work on different circuits like I said, it will cause some loss in performance. Also remember that your electrical panel is served by two wires coming in from the power company, each wire does one side of the panel. So in order to get to circuit on the other wire, the signal will have to travel out to your meter and back in to your house. This can cause mega performance problems.

Generally the only way to know if these will work is to try them. There also is MOCA which is similar but uses coax. Thats if you have coax near your modem and near your computer.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
