Problem with new logitech 403

Hi guys. I'm having some problems with my logitech 403. I just bought this new mouse today at bestbuy. For some reason on certain parts of my mousepad it won't work. It jitters all over the place. But on other parts of the mousepad there aren't any problems and works fine. My old razer deathadder chroma however, has no issues on any part of the mousepad. Whats the issue? just a bad mouse and should i order a new one?
