Shitty software.

All it does is play with the tint color the display at a software level. This make colors all super wrong, distorted all colors, the cursor is not affected, and created banding, which is awful.

Many monitors have DDCI protocol which allow you to communicate with the monitior to allow you to adjust some or all settings. The program should be using this protocol to adjust the monitor brightness based on the time of day, not change the tint color, let alone doing it on software level.

The monitor has a "disable for 1h" button for color work. I am sorry.. people who need to do color critical work.. is not for 1h.. it's their carrier and they do editing for hours on end on the computer. Moreover, "Disable" doesn't disable... it continued alters the colors at software level!

Epic fail

Or how about simply reduce the brightness of the monitor?

Like this you get to keep your colors, and reduce hurting your eyes. 'cause this program does reduce anything... it just plays with colors... your eyes are still going "Toooo mmuuuuchhh liiiiiigggghhtt!!!!", because the back light doesn't vary in illumination.

*avoiding snarky comments to keep this civil*

ambient light is never constant. the sun kinds sucks like that. I hate having monitors in my face and always prefer having my main monitor at max viewable distance and my secondary monitor which is a large screen tv at sofa distance. reaching out and adjusting brightness according to the sun cycles throughout the day is just not my sort of thing. flux adjusts throughout the day and at a click of the mouse I can disable it.

convenience trumps fidelity

during my day I don't need to have color accuracy

I wake up, watch last nights daily and colbert report turn on the news which I mostly just listen to as I check email and forums. no where is it vital to have color accuracy is it killing me that linustechtips forum is an off white did I lose out on some laughs because the daily show was slightly off tint? am I missing out on grumpy cat pics with flux turned on? for watching the linustechtips livestream tonight am I missing out on having less blue shown on my screens?

of course if I am messing around in photoshop and the odd time I am messing with sony vegas I'll turn it off. if I somehow find game of thrones on my hard drive or some other shows I really care about I turn it off and I can turn it off with just one click its at the bottom of my window I don't even have to search for it. I click it off

again convenience trumps fidelity.

in the end this program is not for people who need color accuracy

PS

I have gunnars as well but with my need to have my monitors at max distance the slight magnification of the gunnars messes with it. I could see it being useful if you were a laptop gamer they are also smudge magnets. there is a coating on them that smudges when my eyelashes hit it I've never ever ever had glasses that needed to be cleaned as often as these

The software doesn't adjust the monitor brightness... it just plays with the tint via software. Your eyes still hurts as much. Making red = Blue and Blue = green, and blue = red, also doesn't make the monitor "easier on the eye". It's just B.S software. Might as well be a RAM optimizer program.

No where is it vital to have color accuracy is it killing me that linustechtips forum is an off white did I lose out on some laughs because the daily show was slightly off tint? am I missing out on grumpy cat pics with flux turned on?

That's because you don't appreciate things. I want color accuracy all the time. We, are lucky enough to see several trillion colors with our eyes, and a kick-ass brain to process it all, and what you are doing is taking all this and throwing at the bin and go "I dont' need it... I am just there to eat and shit, and watch cat videos. Might as well see a black and white, I don't care... colors aren't needed." . Now you might argue that I am going over the top here.. and I say.. considering that people are on the computer all day... it maters.. 'cause for more then 7h a day in front of a screen of some kind.. that's a lot of time in the end. I want to enjoy everything to the best I can.

I guess, you can say, that I just really enjoy life.
