Where to go for next upgrades?

So this is my current Rig: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/FpvNNQ

Looks a bit all over the show. I recently got that 1080 for £500 which i think was a good deal, given what the prices are at now. (My old card was an RX 470)

With this, i'm here to look for some advice on where to upgrade next. My first thoughts say the CPU or motherboard, but I'm not too sure.

I've got around £800-£900 to spare to make changes,( could I even make a completely new build?)

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Lol I can tell you that your cpu is bottlenecking a 1080 or is at least not living up to it.  Go ryzen and sell your cpu/mobo/cooler/ram as a combo on ebay or something, try selling it for £300-£400. I sold a system much worse a few months ago with only 8gb of ram and I made $300~£220.  Get a ryzen 5 1600, 16 gb of 3000 or 3200 mhz ram and a good b350 motherboard to go along OR wait for ryzen 2.0 OR upgrade to ryzen 2.0 when that comes out.

EDIT: also buy another ssd, use it as a fast mass storage, get a mx300 500gb.

Try using the PSU Tier List!

How to reset the bios/clear the cmos

My current rig:

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x

Ram: 1x16gb DDR4, 2x8gb DDR4

Storage: 1tb nvme ssd

GPU: gtx 3080

Monitor: 23.8" Dell S2417DG 144hz g-sync 1440p + 27" Acer S271HL 60 Hz 1080p

Keyboard: ducky one I | I SF

Mouse: gpro wireless | glorious model o2 wireless

Sound : beyerdynamic 1990 pro | Monoprice liquid spark (amp) + topping d10 (dac)

Just did this myself but with just 8GB of RAM for £260. So this upgrade in the UK with 16GB will cost around £360 (Inclusive of VAT and delivery).

or 2700 if you want to do some obs streaming. because with that leftover budget you can go overboard and secure  a long lasting CPU and Mobo

Eh the 1600 is pretty great for streaming, id imagine the 2600 and 16gb of ram will be just as good if not better.  If it's in op's budget, wait for the 2700 instead.

1600 is allready great for gaming and streaming, but judging by how the market is trending towards multi-threaded games, a 2700/1700 will last longer with their two extra cores and 4 extra threads. so there is nthing wrong with sticking to the 1600/2600 if since they are both really god options

yea my cpu is is bottlenecking the 1080. Would something like the 8700k be something to consider as well from Intel's side?

I do have a 144hz monitor, so I'm not sure if Ryzen would reach them heights

If you want to spend the money on an 8700k, sure why not. A ryzen 7 or even 5 will keep up with a 1080. You could wait to upgrade to the 2xxx series ryzen 5 or 7 too. I wouldn’t get intel unless you want to spend the money, because we all know ice lake will make coffee lakes architecture dead again

True. Yea Zen+ could be a thing to wait for, isn't it to be released next month?
