Got a quick question,

Im planning on motorizing my telescope and use stellarium to control it.

For that i wanted to use one of those windows 8/10 as they are cheap on the used market, lightweight and last longer than my 7700hq/1050ti laptop.

Only problem: to move the scope to a star you have to press ctrl+1 wich is a bit difficult on a tablet. My question is then: is there a piece of software that overlays a small button i can press as a hotkey or something similar so i dont have to drag a keyboard with me to a dark spot

windows has had an osk forever

I know of that since if been messing around in windows xp

It takes up a lot of screen space tho wich the 8 inch tablets dont have. Id like something more elegant with a small overlay bubble or something.

I do keep it in mind.

So you don't want to use something like a netbook which is small and has a keyboard built into it

you also don't want to use the OSK that already exists beucase it not "elegant"

you also don't want to just plug a keyboard into whatever you're using

you want some form of on screen button that only contain the ctrl key and 1 key , right? am i getting all that correct?

Erm... yes.

The reasons why i dont prefer a netbook are

1)i forgot about those

2)netbooks that are cheap are crap running windows xp, windows 7 stuff with a dead battery wich is rubbish when you are in the middle of a field and netbooks running windows 7 or up that are somewhat fast are >€100 whilst those tablets are sub €50.

You do bring me on to an idea however.

Im not unfamiliar with electronics so i could just stick a micro and a button onto the back and use that. Thanks!

edit

If been searching for netbooks and they have been coming down in price lately
