external PCIE drive

Hi All,

so im trying to clone my SSD from my Lenovo 720-13 IKB, however for some reason Acronis won't boot on this machine but works well on others...possibly due Acronis cannot detect NVME drives ( if anyone has insights to get this working please let me know.)

I saw Linus last video where he made a external. However I have tried Nvme Pvie externals from Microcenter but there drive is too big ( I think M key) and won't fit.

I've done it plenty of times. You can get an external M.2 to USB adapter. Plug in the SSD and do what you have to do.

 

It would be restored of your laptop could boot to it. I've never had an issue with Acronis not detecting M.2 or anything else. Even got it to work on a dying drive so we could perform disc repair in it. The original had bad sectors.

 

Why are you cloning it? What are you cloning it to?

do you have any idea of what adapter to use? the ones I got from micro center does not work as the m.2 NVME PCIE was too big ( not in length ). 

I need one which can support an M key ( same as one in the Lenovo Yoga 720). 

 

Cloning another machine SSD to this M.2 ( will be placed in a new machine )

Cloning a normal SSD drive to this.

 

Also- have you tried acorns on a surface device? have checked around but hardly seen any success. Something to do with WinPE.
