I found a good deal on an HP Omen with a gtx 1080 and an i7 8700k for around $1500 USD. Is this a good deal or should I wait? the discount code ends on the tenth.

it's alright for $1500, but 8gb of ram a 16gb optane module instead of a 240gb ssd is kind of a disappointment.

It's actually a very good deal. The downside is you won't be able to overlock the i7-8700k to the max due to what looked like a sketchy (all it says is 500W bronze efficiency, no brand) and its only a single 120mm rad AIO liquid cooler, I'm unsure about the motherboard too. 16Gb of RAM would be preferable as would an SSD over optane, but all in all, I would go for it due to insane GPU and RAM prices right now, and consider upgrading the PSU.

it's a good deal even if you have to go and change/add a couple components. just the GPU would be stupidly limiting on the rest of a custom system you'd buy.

 

you can sell the optane module, get an SSD and an extra 8 GB and you're set for the next 4 years at least

They have an option for a 750 platinum for $80 more. should I look at that or check a different vendor ?
