Small monitors (8-9 inch)?

Arika

I seem to have run out of deskspace.... goddamn it. I'm looking to replace my old 12" samsung monitor with a much smaller one for the sake of space, but if never been in the market for one so I have no idea what to look for. eBay has a whole bunch of generic/unbranded ones.

Does anyone have any recommendations? My main requirements are that it's HDMI input and 8 or 9 inch. Resolution does not matter as it's primarily going to be used for videos and reference material, mainly text.

There are some reviews on a toguard/kingmak monitor from Amazon but I want to keep my options open.

I have one, but for my use case, a monitor will be more convenient

You might have to build one yourself, using one of those universal monitor driver board kits and one of those laptop or tablet replacement panels. Do make sure the panel interface type on the panel and the board is matched - LVDS for LVDS, eDP for eDP.

Alternatives: a tablet or a small laptop like an iPad, 11-inch MacBook Air (discontinued but you may be able to find used ones cheap,) or Retina MacBook. You can set up some kind of file sharing so the tablet can access files from your PC over Wi-Fi.
