I'm looking to replace my old pawn shop Dell e7240 with a more beefy system. The system will be mainly be used for VM's, light gaming, and productivity when I am not at home. I like the Razer Blade 14 but I keep seeing a lot of negative reviews so I am wary of it. The Dell XPS 13 is nice but I it has Intel graphics which I want to avoid. I don't like that the Dell Inspiron gaming because it lacks USB-C or thunderbolt. I'm not looking at Lenovo systems due to some of their questionable business practices that I have seen in the news and personal experience. I also do not like HP systems as they have burned me in the past from both quality and support. I haven't looked into Asus or MSI yet.

I perfer to have the following:

Nvidia 1060

1080 or 1440 IPS panel

13-14inch screen

16GB Ram that is upgradable.

Tunderbolt and/or USB-C

i7-7700 or better (Xeon is overkill)

Ultrabook like

Good battery (4-6 hours?)

I'm not dead set on anything and probably asking for something unreasonable.

Nah, these all will not come together. 15 inch chassis is preferred for thin 1060 laptops due to better heat dissipation. If you really need a small enough 1060 laptop, Alienware 13 is the best choice. MSI GS43VR and Aero 14 also not bad but their build quality is OKish. Note that these laptops usually have high fan noise under load, that's the trade-off.

I figured as much, I might end up getting a system with a 1050 if it comes to that. The most gaming I'll do is Terraria or Hollow Night as I prefer my desktop for intense gaming sessions. I mainly want a dedicated GPU so I can allocate its resources to some of the VM's I run.

Then Yoga 720 15 and Dell XPS 15 are good choices.

Or if you need the best of both world then get the required Dell XPS 13 and when ever you feel like gaming/working just plug in an external GPU with a GTX 1050/1050TI. Or you could try the Alienware 13 or the Gigabyte Aero 14 like @ZM Fong mentioned.
