Motherboard doesnt affect FPS in games or if it does its micro frames that even your pc couldnt notice. get any board from a good dealer. gigabyte is fine.

Motherboards really have no part in affecting FPS but Gigabyte has a bad BIOS from what some ofour own members say. If you like you can mod the ROG board just to fit your needs. BTW what socket are you interested?

The mobo doesn't affect performance.

If you just want to do a gaming build, don't waste your money in an expensive rog mobo and just get one that does the job.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

The cheaper Gigabyte boards still have 2 or 3 I'm pretty sure.

Step 1. Buy the cheapest MSI, Gigabyte, Asus, Asrock (people will argue about the order) that has the options you want (SLI, higher integrated sound card, connections) and that has the color scheme you want.

Step 2.

Step 3. Profit.

Same strategy also works with ram. Replace brands with Gskill, kingston, corsair (people will argue about the order or add muskin crucial to the list) and integrated sound/color scheme with CL9, 1.5V /color scheme and whatever is cheaper 1866, 1600, as almost all 1600 will do 1866 on same timings. If the 1866 cl9 is same price? Grab it. Oc it to 2133 if it does decent latency, if not? 1866 cl9 is a "sweet spot". Sometimes cl9 1600 ram will do 2133 cl10. Mine did. Others won't or might do better.

I like MSI boards on Haswell and Gskill ram and Asus, MSI, Gigabyte video cards. In z77 I liked Asus boards. Someone else might like Asus and corsair on z87. They are all going to OC the same for the most part. Some people like side windows and LED's. I personally hate them and want a simple black case and no distracting crap sitting next to me. It is all preference. I also hate mechanical keyboards cus they are too damn loud, but other people love them. Buy what you like and don't let people tell you what to buy. It's your baby and you have to live with it for a few years. Make sure you like it.
