25ft display port and signal degradation.

Robby Ramirez

So i have a setup were my pc is on the other side of the room, meaning i need to run a 25ft HDMI cable from the pc to the monitor and it has work great with my 1080 60Hz monitor, but now i'm updating to a 2560 x 1080 monitor, and i'm planing to use display port for this, but i'm worry that the length of the cable will not allow the monitor to work at its intended 2560 x 1080 resolution at 75hz with the only display port 1.2 that it has.

You should be okay.  I don't think they're allowed to say a cable is DP 1.2 compliant if it can't actually fully achieve that capability at the length they're selling you (if you're buying a reputable brand, anyway).  If you want to be sure, you can get a long active (powered) cable that will ensure the signals have more range.
