My friend needs a cheap pc for light web browsing, playing fortnite, rocket league and LoL. He also needs a DVD drive. I want to give him my old HD 6870, since i think it runs most games fine.

  • Seasonic S12II-520 520W 80 Plus Bronze
  • MSI H110M PRO-VD PLUS
  • Intel Pentium G4560
  • SAPPHIRE HD 6870
  • Crucial Ballistix Sport Grey, 2400MHz, 8GB, DDR4
  • Seagate Barracuda 3,5" HDD 1TB, 7200RPM, 64MB cache
  • Zalman Z1 black
  • LG SuperMulti, GH24NSD1

Should i change anything in this setup? I want to keep the price low.

get a corsair CX, be quiet pure power 10 or coolermaster masterwatt instead, the s12 is old as dirt and missing protections. also i'd get a 2200G instead of the G4560.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

I would suggest the exact opposite of Herman, Corsairs CX series isnt that great, though a pure power 10 is fairly nice for the low end, definitely not cooler master.

The Seasonic S12 series may be old but its still super high quality for the price and has an extremely low failure rate.

Also i dont see much point in the 2200g if theres going to be a 6870 in there anyway. Am4 would probably be a better platform choice for future proofing but taht really depends on how much you want to "future proof".

H110 can still do up to an i7 6700 or 7700 non-k, and thats a massive upgrade path even if it doesnt go any further. Am4 will likely top out with Ryzen 2 which would be longer lasting but its a difference of what, a year or two of hardware?

I think OP has the right idea.

Though fuck that case, i had one, it was OK for a while but it has super bad airflow and cut up my hands. Its cheap for sure but its not the best choice, even on a cheap PC build you should invest in a nice case from the start since its better to have and not need than need and not have. The Z1 is very limited and outdated, look into some of silverstone or cooler masters cheaper options.

the newer CXs and the other 2 options i listed are all much, much better than the S12, it's old as dirt and missing several protections.

the 2200G is the same price as a ryzen 1200 and performs better at stock while having an decent iGPU if the 6870 dies.

no point in an old H110 board when a ryzen 3 doesn't cost much more but performs better and gives much better upgrade room.

Wow, didn't know the S12 is that old. I own one and I've never had any issues with it, that's why I wanted to include it in this build.

I'll change the psu to a BE QUIET! PURE POWER 10 500W.

For the cpu, I tried replacing it with the 2200G, but only one store in my country currently sells it, and it costs almost double the price of the pentium.

I'm thinking of using one of these cases:

  • Cooler Master RC-K350-KWN2-EN
  • Zalman Z1 NEO
  • Corsair Carbide Series™ SPEC-01 RED LED Mid Tower
  • SilentiumPC Regnum RG1 Pure Black
  • SilentiumPC MidT Brutus M10

but can't decide which one to buy.

i'd go with this, see if the 1200 is available at a lower price before getting the G4560.
