Fiio E09K worth it?

Go to solution Solved by ShearMe,

The FiiO E9k is meh.

So my mum has been winging at me saying im not going to have anything to open for christmas because i don't want anything but i just saw a post that lead me to this site that has the Fiio E09k for $90+$15 postage and it looks like a pretty good deal but i dont know if its good or not as for headphones i dont really have high end headphones but i would be willing to invest in some if i got this so my main question is is it good and is it worth getting over onboard coz some guy on here told me onboard is good now and i was all like waaaah yea thanks for reading with no punctuation :P

Should just get an E10.

I love you. No Homo

The FiiO E10 is cheaper than the E09K and far superior. I still think you shouldn't get a DAC til you have the headphones....

Having a nice DAC with a bad pair of cans is like eating soup with chopsticks.

Really? even with the little thing the e17 that goes in it? why does it cost more if the E10 is better?

I wouldn't use it until i got headphones it would kinda just sit there i couldnt be fucked plugging it in and unplugging everytime i want to use a different thing lol

You're paying to plug a dac into a dac, so you can dac your dac whilst you dac.

You *can* get the DAC before the headphones, but its a travesty to leave it there unused for X amount of time until you have the funds for the headphones. At which point, you may not even want the headphones or the DAC anymore.

Im trying to be as nice as possible, but this thread just turned on its head.

@ShearMe and Myself are trying to be as helpful as possible and give you suggestions towards the path you should choose, but for us to do that, you need to first help yourself. We can only give suggestions. Do your own research, find a pair of headphones that you think will suit your music tastes and go for it. We've both already explained why you do/don't need a DAC and why the E09K isn't worth the money.

This is as much as we can give you. But if you're just getting daddy to buy an  audio set up people have suggested on the internet, just get another pair of beats and dwell in your ignorance.

Im sorry if that was harsh, but there's nothing that annoys me more than arrogance

Aww im sorry my parents love me :S

Seriously i dont know what u got from that. I wasnt trying to boast my parents having money or anything i was just telling u why. I didn't even think of it like that when i was typing it i just wanted to know if it was terrible or not! You were the one telling me to do something i already knew u would say and something i can deal with on my own, I was just asking as i have no idea about audio u know this is a forum.

Im done.

Your turn @ShearMe

The point still stands. The FiiO E09k is *OK* at best, but there are better and cheaper alternatives (E10).

Even more-so, I'd still like to push that you shouldn't get such a pricey DAC to use as a paper weight until your next Bday/Xmas where you'll ask for a good pair of headphones.

At the end of the day, its your choice and the advice you've asked for is here. Use it wisely.

Get the headphones first, then decide whether you need a DAC.

Just one moment here, FiiO E09K is just a desktop amp and like its predecessor, E09, It doesn't have any DAC components. Hence why, it has the dock connector so you could dock it with E07K or E17 to use its DAC

I would still suggest you invest in a pair of good headphones first and only think abt it when you need an amp to drive those high impedance headphones.
