Hi, I currently own an Alienware 17 R4, the second cheapest model on the website, with the GTX1060 and the intel core i7 7700K 7th gen. I was just wondering if it is worth buying a mechanical keyboard to attach to my laptop, or any gaming laptop really. I always thought that I should get one but it sort of seems useless to get one? Is it?

That only makes sense if you use your laptop as a desktop at the end of the day, with an external monitor keyboard and mouse.

If you are someone like me who loves mechanical keyboard, I would totally do that to any desktop or laptop I use. But here's the thing, you are getting an Alienware 17, which is a huge laptop by itself, to use a mechanical keyboard comfortably, you would want to use it in front of the laptop and not on the laptop, so when travelling to some places you may not have enough space to do that.
