AsRock z68 Extreme4 or z75 Pro3

Hello LTT Community!

Which is better for gaming with no to minimal OC: AsRock z68 Extreme4 or z75 Pro3?

As far as I understand from another forum, z68 Extreme4 uses digital controller whereas z75 Pro3 utilizes analog. Assumingly, digital is better though from the time of the post there weren't any significant evidence.

Note: No clue what it meant in relation to the controller types.

Currently it has:

i7-2600K @ 3.4Ghz

4x4GB Crucial Ballistix Sport @ 1600MHz

5x 120mm case fans

2x Cooler Master CPU fans with heatsink (Hyper 212)

EVGA NVidia GeForce GTX 660 TI 2GB

1x 3.5" 2TB HDD

600W Thermaltake Smart Series

Plus two LED strips from the Phanteks P400S case

Just completed a few builds for me, my siblings, and a friend. Got into PC building about a month ago so still figuring things out.

Let me know if I did anything wrong with this post! :D

Thank you for any comments!

If I recall correctly, the Extreme lineup is better overall than the Pro lineup. Either one will serve you pretty well for no to minimal OC.

welcome to the Linus Tech Tips forums!

either will function/work with no real advantages to either other than the update value on the z75 (USB 3.0 and PCIe GEN3)

the voltage regulator modulation (VRM) is best suited for digital than analog (cost savings).

overclocking was a bit hinkie on analog.

I'd go for the Z75 board just for the fact that it's less old.
