HT speaker suggestions

Hey guys:

I was wondering if I could get your opinion on my audio setup and recommendations for a new 5.1 home theater system. I plan on moving into a large space in the future so I wanted a real nice setup for around $1500 on speakers and $1000 on a receiver. Lower prices are definitely welcome.

My setup right now:
Front speakers: Sony SSF-7000 floor-standing speakers
Surrounds: Polk TSI-100 bookshelf
Center: Sony SS-CN5000
Sub: Polk PSW505 12" sub
Receiver: Denon 1910

I know I shouldn't have mixed and matched speakers but I didn't know that at the time. This was the most I could afford on a minimum wage job at that particular time.

Thanks!

I mean, you could buy more expensive speakers or receiver, but why bother? Put that money towards optimizing your room if you want better audio.

You think just optimizing the room would make as much as a difference as swapping out the speakers? How much of an impact does the receiver have on the sound?

Difference between two modern receivers should be minimal. Yes, the room plays a huge role in sound.

I'll get a SPL meter and get some padding and rearrange some things. Hopefully this should make a change. I've heard that placing a sub near a wall increases the bass but it's just better to get two subs to even out the sound.
