Looking for replacement headphones

So i need a new set of headphones, my razer tiamat finally cracked after 4 years. just wondering what the best headphones are under 400. Music and gaming are the sole purpose. I do have a Xonar DX sound card too.

Thanks

Hi. $400 US? If so, my vote's for the HD650 (we're getting hosed up here in Canada... easily $400-700 up here in Toronto [new]). My 2 cents...

A lot of people seem to be recommending the more expensive alternatives, so I thought I might recommend you the cheaper alternative.

Koss KSC75. It's currently on sale $14 on Amazon. Yes I know they look like shit, because they are built like shit, but they are surprisingly comfortable, and they sound like crazy good it's not even funny, it's like for under $20 they're not supposed to sound like that. Just like everything else, as long as you take good care of them, they can last for a very long time. Nothing compares to them at that price range. I have like half a dozen of these because why not. They're great for gaming and they're great for music. I can put them on my ears for hours every day without any complaint.

The KSC75 are good. I bought a set myself, but they aren’t even close to the realm of the K712 or HD650. They are good for the money, but they aren’t beating $300 headphones.

If USA, get something off massdrop.

They currently have the AKG 7XX for 200. I have them, love them. They are the same, essentially, as the K702 Anniversaries.

If you watch the stuff there, you can find other things like the HD6XX which is HD650 IIRC, or the HE4XX which are the HE400S I think.

HE4XX is supposedly the HE400i. I have a set coming so I’ll let you know.

Hmm, I believe the HE4XX is an iteration of the venerable HE400, not the HE400i. Let us know whatcha think of it.

I have heard many mixed opinions. Most popular so far is it’s the body of the HE400 with the drivers of the HE400i. Not sure. I need to get HE400is and HE400Ss as well to compare.

Although as far as frequency graphs go, they are extremely similar to the HE400S (white line)

I can get a pair of 400S for $180-$200, not sure if I actually want to. I think they are too similar. And of course I’m trying to save to get the Ether C Flow.
