OnePlus 5T

Go to solution Solved by AWayne,

I was in your same position actually. I previously owned the Nexus 5 and loved it, switched to a budget phone after my nexus 5 fell to boot looping, and now I own a OnePlus 5T. Just to start it all off right, I absolutely love the 5T. It is the closest to Stock Android as the Nexus 5 has, except with so many fantastic features. For me, it is all the small stuff that I find that makes the phone. From Off screen gestures, mappable navigation buttons, music control without even waking up the screen, the experience is wonderful. The only downside to Oxygen OS as compared to Stock is that you definitely will not receive updates nearly as quick as a google device.

The Phone is snappy, vibrant, and the camera is pretty ok. I never have noticed any issues with lag or overloading as I myself am also a relatively light user as yourself. One thing worth mentioning however is in regards to the latest Update to Android Oreo. I recently got the update and have noticed a pretty noticable change in battery life. I have heard rumors that OnePlus is working on a fix, but it is something to watch out for. However, if you never knew the battery life beforehand, there is no way to have a benchmark to measure it with. Battery life asides, the Dash charging makes up for it 150%. I usually have around 30-40% charge left at the end of my day, and when I go through my daily morning routine I put the phone on the charger and it is up to nearly 100% within 40 minutes.

All in all, I would recommend the OnePlus 5T as I have had a wonderful experience with it. But like others have stated, we are coming up to new phone season and there will be many more options out there, up to you. If you have any questions about the phone I'd be happy to answer to the best of my ability. Also if you do end up buying the phone, I have a referral link here that gets you $20 off any accessories when you buy a device. I have the OnePlus bullets V2 (Earbuds) and for a free $20 it was a fantastic decision, they feel premium and durable. There are other accessories too like cases, screen protectors, t-shirts, etc. Hope this helped and here ya go: https://oneplus.net/invite#ECAH0NSKNJJ0UIU

My Nexus 5 is having a ruff time existing. I've replaced the screen and the battery (it still need to be charged after about 6-7 hours) once so I'm looking to buy a new phone.

I've heard a lot of good things about the OnePlus 5T and I think it's the front runner at the moment (the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage version, I'm not a super heavy user). Does anyone have this phone? What are your thoughts on it?

The phone that I truly want is the Pixel 2 but I ain't got that kind of money and I have a really great bring your own phone plan that makes switching to a 2 year contract not worth it.

If anyone has any comments, suggestions or opinions I'd appreciate the feedback <3.

the only way it really falls short from the pixel is the camera. because the pixel's camera is just way too good.

Snapdragon 845 phones are coming, could always wait for that

Otherwise just get a standard One Plus 3/T and save some cash? Or just the normal One Plus 5?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Oneplus 5T is an awesome flagship for the price. This smartphone has a really good back camera, that take good pictures with low light (unusual for a "cheap" smartphone).

The downside is that it is the radiation levels. The 5T has the highest levels in the market.

Besides this it's a awesome flagship
