Hi! I'm new here so bare with me on this one..

I've been rocking an old Acer C720 running arch linux for a long time. a combination of the fact i'm on chromebook hardware and my crappy headphones, I never really cared to much about sound quality. As I'm only 15 I can't exactly just go get a job and get myself a better rig, I was happy to take it when I heard one of my buddy's was throwing away an old macbook pro mid 2010. I upgraded the hard drive and  installed arch linux and windows, and they are both working great. I later got some nice(ish) headphones for Christmas. I quickly noticed they sounded much better on my phone/tablet then my laptop in both linux and windows. I later discovered they sounded much better in the web player of spotify (but still completly inferior to the tablet/phone, which is understandable as im listening via a web browser), but they sound great via an MP3 file in vlc media player. And yes, I have spotify premium with high quality streaming enabled. I've tried everything I can find online to make the spotify client sound acceptable, but other then connecting my headphones to my tablet and using spotify connect to control it via the spotify client, I can't get it to sound half decent, so I decided perhaps a better route would be to ditch the client altogether and find a third party alternative.

TL;DR:

Whats the best third party spotify client, or alternatively, how can I get the official client to sound acceptable?
